Password Reset Requirements Checklist
The following information will assist you in successfully resetting your password and eliminate any unnecessary disconnects. You should note that passwords expire every 60 days and can be reset prior to expiration.
The system allots you two minutes from the time you log on to successfully change your password. You should already have your new password prepared to avoid any disconnect.
Passwords must meet the following criteria:
- May not contain a four letter or greater ‘dictionary’ word, i.e., any word four letters or greater that can be found in a dictionary.
- A minimum of four characters must be changed in each password reset.
- May not be changed more than once in any 24 hour rolling period.
- Be eight (8) characters in length, not more or less
- Contain a combination of alpha and numeric characters
- Include at least one (1) uppercase and one (1) lowercase letter (case sensitive)
- Contain a special character; e.g. @, #, $
- Be different than the last nine (9) passwords
- Passwords must not be stored in scripts, files, or applications unless compensating controls are in place
