I. Welcome

Christa Shipman, NGS

Christa welcomed everyone to the meeting and reviewed some logistics for the hybrid meeting. She also introduced Jessica Bewley-Smith as HH+H POE's new team member. Jessica is a great asset to the team and Christa and Erin are excited to work with her! As a reminder, the purpose of the POE AG is to help us develop education and provide feedback from the provider perspective to enhance our educational offerings. The POE AG information is housed on our website, including the Mission and Charter, Meeting Schedules and Meeting Minutes. Christa reviewed the agenda and turned the meeting over to Catherine Andersen for website updates.

II. Website Updates

Catherine Andersen, NGS

There weren’t any new updates for the meeting, but Catherine reminded everyone of the enhancement to the Events page that shows a listing of upcoming education. She also reminded everyone about the Feedback option (the yellow button on the left) that can be accessed at any time to offer feedback about the website.

Comment:

  • It would be easier to find the articles under the Medicare Topics if they were in alphabetical order.

III. NGSConnex Updates

Charity Bright, NGS

Charity was not available for the meeting; however, there are no new enhancements to NGSConnex that affect the HH+H providers.

If anyone has ideas for enhancements or improvements to NGSConnex, please share with us (NGSHHHPOE@elevancehealth.com) and we will share with Charity.

Comment:

  • It would be a nice option to be able to quickly reverify eligibility for patients on service, i.e., NGSConnex maintains a list of patients a particular provider has queried for eligibility, and the provider could choose which of those they wish to run an eligibility check again.

IV. Completed and Upcoming Education/Advisory Recommendations from 3/12/24

Christa Shipman, National Government Services

Christa reviewed the education sessions completed since the last POE AG meeting. She also reviewed the podcast episodes that have been released so far. As a reminder, the links to the HHH Podcasts on Apple and Spotify are under ‘Apps’ on our website. We also still have YouTube videos, including the complete Home Health Billing series, HHH Educational Videos, and the HHH On-Demand Videos playlist which includes the HHH webinars conducted each month. Christa also reviewed the recommendations members offered during our last meeting and the updates on those suggestions.

V. 2024 Education Material Review/Discussion

All

The following revised job aids/articles were reviewed: “Billing G-Codes for Therapy and Skilled Nursing Services,” “Completing the ABN for HHAs,” “Home Health Billing When a New MBI is Assigned,” “Reporting Home Health With no Skilled Visits” and “Reporting Site of Service Codes for Home Health Care.”

Comments:

  • Create an article or post information about beneficiaries not in the country legally at the time of service/billing
  • A podcast about audits with Medical Review would be appreciated
  • Create a billing checklist and/or flowchart showing the path from intake to discharge and all involved in patient care for a home health stay under Medicare, including:
    • FTF encounter checklist or create separately and link to overall checklist
    • PEP adjustment – transfer and discharge/readmission situations
    • Situations when a patient has hospice and home health and is also with a Medicare Advantage plan
