Caring for Medicare Patients is a Partnership
Caring and treating your patients is not something that is done within a silo for any practitioner. In order to provide the best possible service and the best medical outcome for any patient requires interaction between the primary practitioner and potentially other specialists, family members, or organizations.
Often there are questions about when and how patient information may be shared. Within today’s compliance efforts there is always this concern when providing care for the patient and protecting your practice at the same time. The CMS CERT Medicare Task Force issued a publication last year that was endorsed by all the MAC Medical Directors. It will help you and others understand how to interact with others that also have the care of the patient as their mission.
This publication, Caring for Medicare Patients is a Partnership provides helpful and vital information for every Medicare enrolled medical practice, facility, DME supplier, home health and hospice and caregiver when providing great care for a beneficiary. We ask that you take a few minutes to review this publication and feel free to share it within your practice or with other practitioners and offices you work with. You will find this publication in both a pdf file and a printable pdf file on the CERT A/B MAC Outreach and Education Task Force web page.
