Help Prevent Bank Account Fraud

The provider should be aware of the following to help prevent bank account fraud if no authorized individual from your entity submits a change to enrollment.

  • Contact your MAC immediately if:
    • remittances notice drop to paper,
    • Medicare checks drop to paper,
    • you stop receiving Medicare payment including electric deposit, and/or
    • you receive notice that a provider enrollment application was submitted to change enrollment or EFT information.
  • Access PECOS periodically, to verify enrollment information Medicare currently has on file is accurate, including electronic funds transfer.
  • Ensure “check stock” is not left out where it becomes visible to others (e.g. cleaning personnel)
