New Local Coverage Determination for Sacroiliac Joint Injections and Procedures
National Government Services, as your MAC, is bringing to your attention a newly created LCD policy change that will effect providers who render and bill for Sacroiliac Joint Injections. This information was previously contained in our Pain Management LCD (L33622).
This new LCD, L39455, Sacroiliac Joint Injections and Procedures, as well as the coinciding Billing and Coding Article (A59233), reflect multiple changes to current policy, including an expansion of the Indications and limitations, an addition of frequency guidelines, as well as changes to payable diagnoses.
This LCD is effective for services performed on or after 3/19/2023. You may view both the future dated LCD and article now on CMS’ Medicare Coverage Database. We strongly urge you to familiarize yourself of these changes so you and your patients are prepared in advance.
