Coding for Sinuva^™ Claims

This notice is a coding instruction, and not an indication of coverage. FDA labels should be consulted for indications and usage.

Claims submitted to National Government Services for endoscopic placement of Sinuva^™ without any other nasal/sinus endoscopic surgical service (CPT^® 2019), on or after 10/1/2019 should be coded as follows:

• CPT 31299: Unlisted procedure, accessory sinuses [when specified as insertion of a drug-eluting sinus stent]
• HCPCS J7401: Mometasone furoate sinus implant, 10 micrograms [SINUVA, Propel sinus implants]

For dates of service prior to 10/1/2019, the drug should be reported with J3490 (unclassified drugs) and CPT 31299 should be used for the implant procedure.

To report endoscopic placement of Sinuva™ in the ethmoid sinus in conjunction with biopsy, polypectomy or debridement, report CPT code 31237, nasal endoscopy, surgical, with biopsy, polypectomy or debridement (CPT^® 2019).
