How to Avoid Claim Errors and Submit Your Claims Correctly the First Time for Part B Providers

Have you received CARCs or RARCs and you don’t know what to do? We have a webpage created just for you! On this page, we have a listing of the top claim errors with instructions on how to resolve the errors and tips on how to avoid the error in the future.

To access this information from the home page, select Resources. From the dropdown, select Claims and Appeals.

NGSConnex Security Requirements

Privacy and security of provider information and patient health information is a top priority for CMS and due to that we are required to adhere to the following security requirements associated with NGSConnex, our self-service portal.

Timeouts Due to Inactivity

If you are logged into NGSConnex and are inactive for 30-minutes or more your account will timeout and you are required to log back in.

Account Suspension Due to Inactivity

In order to have online access to Medicare beneficiary protected health information via NGSConnex, you must, at a minimum, access the portal once every 30-days. Otherwise, your account will be suspended.

Password Changes

You are required to change your NGSConnex password at least once every 60-days. If you incorrectly enter a password three times within two hours your account will be temporarily locked and you will not be able to use the ‘Change/Forgot my Password’ link to reset it for a period of time.

New NGS Medicare University Dashboard: Updating Your Account Information

When you log into Medicare University, you will always begin at your Dashboard. To get to the drop-down menu for your account information, click on your username in the upper right-hand corner.

When you click on the drop-down menu, there are two options to choose from:

  • My Profile & Settings
  • Sign Out

My Profile & Settings

There are eight sections under this option, most of which have the information you entered when you created your account on Medicare University. Other than the prepopulated fields, none of the fields are required to be completed.

  • Personal Information
  • Basic Information
  • Contact Information
  • Address
  • Localization
  • Additional Information
  • User Custom Fields
  • External Calendar Sync for ILT

To edit information in any of the sections, click on the pencil icon in the top right-hand corner of that section box. In the popup box that loads, change your information/options and then click the blue Save button in the lower right-hand corner.

Some common actions for updating My Profile & Settings are as follows –

  • Change your password at any time under Personal Information.

  • Choose your notification options for messages from Medicare University under Basic Information.

  • Change your time zone, preferred language and how you would like dates displayed under Localization.

Sign Out

Once you are finished with your Medicare University session, you can either close your browser window or click Sign Out from the account information drop-down menu.

To prepare for beneficiary eligibility information no longer being offered in the IVR system beginning 11/18/2024, register for NGSConnex if you haven’t already done so.

Did you know that you can obtain Medicare beneficiary information in NGSConnex, our secure provider portal?

When you log into NGSConnex and conduct an Eligibility lookup, you will have all of the following information at your fingertips.

  • Part B deductible information
  • Other insurance information
  • Home health and hospice information
  • Inpatient/SNF spell history information
  • End-Stage Renal Disease information
  • Preventive services information
  • Audiology screening information
  • COVID-19, flu, pneumococcal vaccine information
  • Therapy information, and much more!

There is no need to try and document the information by writing it down, because you can print and or save the information electronically for your records.

If you are already registered for NGSConnex, login today and go the Eligibility Lookup tab to initiate an Eligibility Lookup.
