Below are the most common issues handled by the SSA. These Medicare-related issues should be handled by your local SSA office:

• Change of address requests
• Medicare beneficiary eligibility status for Medicare
• Effective dates of coverage for Medicare Part A, Part B or both
• Assignment of the MBI/Medicare number on the Medicare card
• Access to information for Medicare premium rates or determining premium rates
• Adding or deleting the date of death
• Sign-up individuals as representative payee
• Enroll People with Medicare for extra help with Medicare Part D costs and other qualified Medicare savings programs
• Enroll People with Medicare for Medicare Part D premium withdrawals
