About Medicare
Part A Hospital Services
Part A (hospital insurance) provides coverage of inpatient hospital, limited skilled nursing facility, home health & hospice care, and health care center services.
National Government Services currently administers the Medicare Part A hospital contracts for the states of Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wisconsin.
Additionally, National Government Services currently administers the Medicare Part A home health and hospice contracts for the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin, and the U.S. Territories of American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands.
Finally, National Government Services currently administers Medicare Part A federally qualified health centers and rural health clinic claims processing for nearly all the United States (except for Arizona, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming), District of Columbia, and U.S. Territories of American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands.
Part B Medical Services
Part B (medical insurance) helps pay the cost of doctor services, preventive care services, outpatient hospital services, medical equipment and supplies, laboratory tests and other health services and supplies.
National Government Services currently administers the Medicare Part B contract for the states of Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont and Wisconsin.
Durable Medical Equipment Medicare Administrative Contractor Services
Durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS) are covered under Part B and include items such as, diabetic supplies, wheelchairs, home oxygen, and canes.
There are four durable medical equipment Medicare administrative contractors (DME MACs selected to process DMEPOS claims for the Medicare program. The four DME MACs (Jurisdictions A, B, C and D) administer the processing of DMEPOS claims for specific geographical regions. Noridian Healthcare Solutions LLC is the Jurisdiction A DME MAC for the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. CGS is the Jurisdiction B DME MAC for the states of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.
