Medicare Secondary Payer
Select Medicare Secondary Payer from the left-side navigation.
The Medicare Secondary Payer section will display information about other insurance coverage the beneficiary may have, that is primary to Medicare. The most current record will display first. This information is important as it will impact who is billed first for services rendered.
The following information will be provided:
- Beneficiary Effective Date
- Beneficiary Termination Date
- Indicator -
- Primary payer to Medicare
- Medicare is primary
- Type
- ORM Indicator – the term Ongoing Responsibility Indicator, means the responsible reporting entity ongoing responsibility to pay for the injured party’s/Medicare beneficiary’s medicals associated with the claim.

- Related Diagnosis Codes - If the primary payer is limiting coverage to specific diagnosis codes, the ICD-10 diagnosis codes will be provided if available. If the Related Diagnosis Codes field is blank there are no ICD-10 related diagnosis codes available.
- Insurer Name
- Select the drop-down arrow, the administering insurance company name and address will display.
Note: If the beneficiary does not have a primary payer to Medicare or hasn’t had a primary payer to Medicare in the past four-years from the date of the search, this panel will be blank.
