Acupuncture Benefits
Select Acupuncture Benefits from the left-side navigation.
Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) covers up to 12 acupuncture visits in 90 days for chronic low back pain. Medicare covers an additional eight sessions if improvement is documented. If improvement in chronic low back pain is not documented or is getting worse, the Medicare coverage for acupuncture ends. No more than 20 acupuncture treatments can be given in a rolling one-year period per CMS guidelines.
Note: Eleven full months must pass from the date of the initial service before a new rolling year can begin.

- If the number of sessions remaining is ‘20’, the next Eligibility Date will be provided.
- Next Eligibility Date
- If the number of sessions remaining is equal to ‘20’, the next Eligibility Date will be provided
- Initial Session Date
- If the number of sessions remaining is equal to ‘1 – 19’, the Initial Session Date will be provided and is the first acupuncture session in the current rolling one year period.
