Diabetes Self Management Training (DSMT)
Select Diabetes Self Management Training (DSMT) from the left-side navigation.
Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) covers outpatient DSMT if a patient has been diagnosed with diabetes. Medicare may cover up to ten hours of initial DSMT (one hour of individual training and nine hours of group training). Medicare may cover up to two hours of follow-up DSMT training each year if it takes place in a calendar year after the year the patient received their initial training. The DSMT panel will be blank when there are not any processed DSMT claims on file with Medicare.
The four-year maximum of historical information available does not apply to DSMT.
